Training for Antarctica-bound maintenance crew
JJ Limited hosts Merlo training for Antarctica bound maintenance crews.
JJ Limited hosted a full day of specialist training at its Christchurch branch for the fleet maintenance team responsible for keeping machinery running at Antarctica New Zealand's Scott Base.
The training was delivered by Merlo's own technical trainers in conjunction with JJ Limited and focused on the fleet of Merlo telehandlers that operate at Scott Base. These units are serviced, repaired and maintained on site, with JJ Limited providing ongoing parts, technical support, training and service information as the South Island's Merlo distributor.
A key part of the day covered the diagnostics for each machine, giving mechanics an idea of what's happening inside a unit, a valuable capability when the nearest JJ Limited workshop and specialist technician is thousands of kilometres away.
Mechanics posted to the ice typically serve for six to twelve months at a time. JJ Limited and Merlo run this training annually, as crews change, each new arrival is familiar with the fleet and is confident using the diagnostic tools they'll depend on through the season.
JJ Limited was pleased to support the delivery of specialist Merlo training for Antarctic New Zealand personnel responsible for maintaining equipment operating at Scott Base.
